This is my most recent abstract,"Nightingale" Oil, 24 x36
It came rather spontaneously. The pigments I used are mostly warm black with a little Burnt Sienna. A little green brings out the pink.

"The Button Jar"

The other day, I went to an antique shop to see if I could find something interesting for Still Life and I did. I brought home these bottles, jars, a kettle and some ceramic pots and cups, tall, short, skinny and shapely and arranged some of them on top of my book shelf. Since the wall was too white as a backdrop, I put one of my abstract, "Moonwalk" behind them. The afternoon sunlight bounced off them, creating a surreal effect. As I was painting, I tried to keep in mind the beauty which inspired me to want to paint it. I hope you like it, too.

I'm still figuring out how to do the blog, but eventually I hope to move my writings which I've been doing on my website, www. LiMahalikArt.com to here so I can better connect with you. You can view my other paintings there. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!
